I finished my first carb rebuild! Any qjet owners have some up close shots of their secondary lock out? I don't know if mine is functioning right and I didn't take a before pic of it. Anyways more pics after gap
I would love some pictures of this area. There's a green assembly behind the choke that moves all the flaps. The secondary lockout locks the secondaries closed until the choke is all the way open. I think they work by having the green assembly puss/pull on a grey piece that in turn pushes the secondary lock out of the way. I don't know if I installed the grey assembly correct because when I open the choke fully, it doesn't have anything pulling it down which in turn would push the secondary lock up deactivating the lock out. Yeah, that was confusing wasn't it.

If it's the same as a 72 Cutlass 350, I might be able to get a pic sometime tomorrow.
Edit: Spec sheet says I should have a 4MC.

Rebuilt your own carb? Now you're a man.
But seriously, that's awesome.

But you're not really "done" until it's running on the engine :)

I have the qjet off my truck laying around somewhere I'll snap some pictures of the area later today if I can remember.

Just out of curiosity, how difficult/expensive was the rebuild? I've heard some horror stories about rebuilding QuadraJets, but seeing as I have one just lying around (its not selling on the local CL either), I figure I might as well try to rebuild it.

I don't know if mine works yet as I haven't figured out all the vacuum mess and I've lost the bolts to hold it to the manifold. I was really nervous about doing it as I'd never done something that challenging before. However, once I got into it, it wasn't too bad. You just have to remember to take your time to make sure you get everything right. The kits you buy don't come with instructions so youtube was my friend. I would suggest doing it, for about $60 total ($40 for kit and new float, and $20 for a gallon of chem dip) you can have a (theoretically) working carb you can sell for profit. I used this video when doing mine.
